JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:  Instructional Coach

           

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Provides support to the district’s instructional program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Have a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience with a valid SCDE Teaching Certificate.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as appropriate.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provides professional development activities to staff including coaching teachers in effective strategies and practices, conducting school-level staff development, and providing opportunities for teachers to attend various conferences and workshops.
  2. Helps teachers develop expertise in assessing and diagnosing strengths and weaknesses of students and prescribe the appropriate instruction.
  3. Assists in analyzing test data for instructional emphasis.
  4. Assists with coordination of academic assistance plan process.
  5. Assists with the coordination of ordering process from selection to distribution of instructional materials and supplies.
  1. Participates in a Literacy Coach professional development plan designed to address the coaching and implementation of effective instructional strategies, program specific implementation, coaching skills and strategies, data collection, analysis and decision-making, program placement, facilitation of collaborative team time and program articulation and transition.
  2. Provides assistance and in-class coaching (demonstration, side by side coaching and observation/feedback) to intervention classes (Academic Support).
  3. Facilitates ongoing opportunities for intervention teachers to meet share, reflect, train and problem solve around areas regarding intervention instruction and delivery.
  4. Develops, maintains and disseminates designated documentation associated with the implementation, coordination and monitoring of the site’s intervention continuum of instruction and services.
  1. Assists with the coordination of after school program, tutoring services, and testing activities.
  2. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  220-Day Contract

 

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified personnel.
